TIFF Contemporary
World Cinema Program

Role: Designer, illustrator

This program provides a platform for filmmakers to share their stories with a global audience and fosters cultural exchange and understanding through the power of cinema.

Sun Life is the main sponsor, and I designed the materials for the gala reception – including invitations, ads, and signage for the event.

My design captured the global audience with custom designed vector illustrations of popular global landmarks.

Sudbury Dragon Boat Festivals

Role: Art director, designer, illustrator

For a number of years, I was lucky enough to work on the main marketing piece for the Sudbury Dragon Boat Festival. This poster design was used for collateral across the events year in and year out.

I was able to leverage my illustration skills and give each year a distinct theme and art style, ranging from whimsical to more traditional.

Each year supported a local charity or social cause in Sudbury.

Sun Life Pride campaigns

Role: Art director, lead designer, motion designer

As an LGBTQ+ advocate, I was honoured to be the lead designer on Sun Life’s first Pride campaign back in 2015. We were one of the first companies who took the bold stance of embracing the rainbow in our key brand asset at the time (the whimsical sun).

This project won an RGD in-house design award (see here). I developed a new version that integrated animation in 2018, and Sun Life has continued to push for bolder designs that reflect their inclusive culture ever since.

2018 update with motion design

I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.

Making the arts more accessible program

Role: Art director, designer, illustrator

This program’s goal is to provide funding that would enable people with limited financial means to gain access to arts programs.

Each piece was a new opportunity to inject creative flair and expression while pushing the boundaries of the Sun Life brand.

Donnybrooks jersey

Role: Art director, designer

I donated my time to design a hockey jersey for a local grassroots team called Donnybrooks.

It all started with some rough sketches that captured the essence of a player that was tough, gritty, and determined. The final design embodied the spirit of their team in a playful and stylized caricature.

Uptown Waterloo Jazz Festival

Role: Designer

I designed the two main stage banners for the event, capturing the essence of jazz music and the history of the genre. They featured close-ups of a singer and a musician, rendered in a dramatic and vintage graphic style.
